Technical Update: Change to Age Pension Deeming rates

On 14th July 2019, the government announced changes to the Age Pension deeming rates, so the following has been implemented in Pathfinder for both singles and couples from the 2019/20 financial year:

• The lower deeming rate is now 1% (changed from 1.75%)

• The upper deeming rate is now 3% (changed from 3.25%)

This change will apply to all results in all cases that are solved on or after 17 July 2019 (irrespective of the case creation date).  If your scenario was solved before 17 July, you can update your results by clicking 'Start solve' again.  We recommend you resolve all scenarios in active cases so your results are consistent (for more information, see How to check when your results were created).

In your Pathfinder results, you can see the deeming rates listed in the Detailed reports: (Individual) > Government Pension > Income Test.  There are lines for 'Lower deeming rate' and 'Higher deeming rate'
