Mapping of Dash fields to Optimo Pathfinder fields

'Contacts' and 'Cases'

In Dash, data entered in the 'Contacts' section in the 'Information' section may be exported to a Pathfinder 'Case'.

In Pathfinder a 'Case' should generally correspond to an engagement with a client to give them advice (e.g. one 'case' in Pathfinder typically corresponds to one SOA). If you do a review for the same contact two years later, then in Pathfinder this would correspond to a new case.  Under a single case, you can do multiple scenarios, such as a basic cash flows scenario, your recommended scenario and some additional alternative scenarios you have discarded.

Where to find fields

Once you are in the 'Contacts' section of Dash, most of the mappings from Dash to Pathfinder are self-explanatory, however, this table draws attention some less obvious mappings. Please note that this isn't a complete list of all the data that is copied.

ItemWhere it is entered in DashWhere it appears in Pathfinder
Individuals and couples

In the 'Contacts' section.

Note, if the contact has a partner, it is strongly recommended to also add them in Dash, to help make Pathfinder's modelling more accurate (e.g. estimates for tax and government benefits).

At the Current situation > Personal details step.

The contacts will appear in Pathfinder as 'Individuals'.  Your exported data will include data from both contacts.

Family home
  1. Go to ‘Information > Assets & liabilities’ step

  2. Add in ‘Assets - General step’

  3. Put type=Principal residence

At the Current situation > Assets & loans step.

Note you need to add any mortgages directly into Pathfinder.

For more information, see Family home.

Investment property

How to add in Dash:

  1. Go to ‘Information > Assets & liabilities’ step

  2. Add in ‘Assets - General step’

  3. Put type=Holiday property (don’t worry, it’ll turn out okay)

  4. In Pathfinder, if you filled in the ‘Type field' first, it will fill in other defaults (including the appropriate tax status of an investment propety)

  5. If the property has joing ownership, then you’ll need to correct this in Pathfinder manually (even if you enter it in Dash with joint ownership, it will initially only appear with one owner)

  6. For rent - the ‘Type’ will pre-fill a default amount, but if you’ve entered it as an cashflow ‘income’ or ‘expense’ in Dash, you’ll need to enter it in Pathfinder manually on the property itself, and delete it from Pathfinder’s cash flows section.

At the Current situation > Assets & loans step.

Note: you need to add any mortgages directly into Pathfinder.

For more information, see Investment Property

Lifestyle asset
  1. Go to ‘Information > Assets & liabilities’ step

  2. Add in ‘Assets - General step’

  3. Choose one of these ‘types’:

    1. Home contents

    2. Motor Vehicles

    3. Boat

    4. Caravan

    5. Motorbike

    6. Collectibles

At the Current situation > Assets & loans step.

For more information, see Lifestyle asset

Data that isn't mapped

Some data in Dash is not exported to Pathfinder, and needs to be entered directly into Pathfinder.  For more details, see How to check data imported from Dash.
