How to use the sample data in Pathfinder

Sample data is a great way to get started if you want to see how Pathfinder works or learn abut a new feature. You can read the instructions or watch the video, below.


  1. Log in to Pathfinder: (for more details see How to log in to Optimo Pathfinder)
  2. On the home page, either:
    1. Click the Add new case button (if you haven't added a case before)
    2. Open an existing case: Select the case from the table, then click the Edit case button (not the 'View case' button)
  3. In the case:
    1. Make sure you are at the start step (on the top menu; marked with a square in the image below)
    2. In the Use some sample data section, find a case you are interested in, and click the Use this case data button (indicated with an arrow, below)
  4. Once you have entered the sample data, you can navigate through the top menus:
    1. Review the data entered at the Current situation and Cash flows and goals steps (for general information about entering data, see Entering Data in Pathfinder)
    2. Create the results:
      1. Go to the Results step (top menu), then the Solve, sub-step
      2. Click the Start solve button (in step 3)
      3. Wait until you see a To view results, go to the Strategy Summary message (for more see How to solve a scenario to get results)
  5. Review the results and download a document. For more see:

  6. After you have used the sample data, you can clear the data and start a case from scratch.  for more, see How to reset your sample case
